Marusys VU+ Duo Twin Linux HDTV Receiver PVR ready

The MS-850S is not the VU+ Duo, the VU+ Duo is in fact the MS-750S.

VU+ is an own company but the producer of this Box is Marusys [who are Korean, also made Kathrein UFS910].

1. Create a empty FAT32 USB-Stick on your PC!

2. Create an directory on the USB-Stick named vuplus!

3. Create in the directory vuplus an another subdirectory named duo!

4. Unzip the files for flashing-USB and copy the Files for flashing needed in the directory duo!

5. Put the USB-Stick in an USB-Port on the VU+Duo!

6. Power On the VU+Duo and he will do the flashing process, you can see all you need in the Display of the Vu+Duo!

...you can install a DM 800 IMAGE OR DM 8000 IMAGE on this box BUT ONLY ON USB STICK NOT IN FLASH ! IT WORKS.

To install Barry allen:
1. Put latest VTI image 2.4 or later on flash as that has the updated drivers, and update software.
2. Insert FAT 32 USB. REBOOT.
3. From image plugins download Barry allen 5.0.33
4. Open DCC or whatever FTP client send image you want to install to MB images ATTRIBUTE 755.
5. FROM barry allen menu as its installed (PLUGIN IN MENU) select extract nfi. from MB images. Maybe name needs to shortened for some images.
Follow on screen what Mr Barry Allen says.
6. Again from Barry Allen plugin menu select image for booting
You are done.

STAGE 1.

GOTO Main Menu \ Setup \ Service Searching \ Tuning
Press "OK" on "TUNER A"
Use L/R keys to change Configuration Mode to "advanced"
Move down to "SATELLITE"
Use L/R keys to select the satellite you want to add
Underneath that set "Use USALS" for this satellite to "no" using L/R keys
Go down to "Stored position"
Set the position you want to this satellite to appear at using L/R keys ie 001, 002 etc
Go down to "LNB"
Use L/R keys to select "LNB 1"
Next ensure "Diseqc Mode" is " 1.2"
"Toneburst" is "B"
(I left the others at the default setting's)
Go further down and input your Latitude and Longtitude using the numeric keys
(I inputted my Lat & Long information but I don't think it will make any difference unless you use USALS !)
Scroll further down to "LOF" and set it to "Universal LNB" using the L/R keys
Then Press "OK" to save the info you have inputted.

You will need to perform this for each Satellite position you intend to set up.

STAGE 2.

GOTO back to Main Menu \ Setup \ Service Searching \ Positioner setup
Go down to "Positioner storage"
Use L/R keys to set the postion number that is to be setup
Go up to "Tune"
Press the "Red Button"
Using L/R keys select "Predefined or Manual transponder" as required
(I suspect the Predefined settings uses the satellites.xml file and manual you get to choose what you want to scan)
Go down to "Satellite" and use the L/R keys to select the Satellite to place at the above Storage postion
Press "OK"
Go down to "Positioner movement"
Use the coloured buttons to search or move the dish left or right until "Locked" is acheived
Go back to "Positioner storage"
Press the GREEN button to store that location

You will need to perform this for each position you intend to set up in line with what you did in stage 1.

This is the way that I did it and it works fine, it looks daunting but after having done it a couple of times it becomes easy.

reading now 12 Sites with some wrong facts, stupid compares and more

Got this Box since some Days, and I DONT compare it to anything, because I need only a working Box with HD working on all Sender.

So please stop compare to AZHD or Dream, its fully different, except only E2 to Dream.

But I will show you the Points, which are different:
AZHD Hardware Blindscan if you have a +
Feeds only on AZHD
Most Videoformats working

Compare to DMM, you cant, you can only compare E2 which is open Source! Chips are different, Board is different and READER are different in Drivers(not much but enough to make Problems)

So here my Tests for you:
First packing out, its all clean and really good Package, Board is clean and tidy.
HDD installing, hmm, must thinking some Minutes about, because no Pic in Manual, but got it

OK Hardware ready, now we have three Flash Images for now:
Original
VTI
PLI

Original its on the Box, a little modify and we have all Plugins like in VTI
Barry Allen is working(big thx to Gutemine) like a Charme, tested on Original 1801 and VTI 1501
Barry Allen make the boot very slow on VTI
Original is ... nice but unspectular, good for Beginners I think, no FTDI Drivers in, found no Way to make it fast, so untested.
Cardreaders are uncompatible on some things in original, also no Oscam working, thats bad!

PLI
FTDI build in and a nice Beta Image(yes,Beta, some terrible Bugs)
NFI Backup not working here
Some Skins are not really working, Emumanager is crashing (tested build 2301)
But fast and nice looking Image, some more todo on it.

VTI
my Favorit Image, because it has it all what I need and like.
But first, if you need smargo, and dont like Problems, flash this Image at first Time with Lan and serial!! Its important!

Oscam only build 680 working (we see the Readerproblems here...), of course this is only for internal Reader. On Smargo all actual Builds working(or other Reader with USB2serial)
NewCS not tested, sorry, my favorite is OScam (only tested USB Version with Smargo and this is working)
Sbox-needs to be tested
CCcam works with both Readers, but not on all Cards as we know.
Be carefull, if you start first CCcam, it takes both internal Readers, so your favorite Cardreader must be started first.
2 Records on different Sender and at the same Time 3 Streams on different PCs, all working,Gui as fast as without
Gui, its amazing fast, I like it
Easy Plugin install, and Mbox, I have NO Problem with it, its running like a Charme, for 2 Days now, without any freeze of course.
My Card is running three Times faster in ms Time on Smargo like on AZHD(using same OScamversion ) times from 200ms is great.
Backup from the whole Image with all my Changes is done in 4 Minutes, fine

Now the negative:
PCstreaming, changing the Channel is a lucky Thing, most Time not working.
OScam not 100% compatible, seems to be the same with NewCS (Reader Driver are a little bit different)
cant play all Videoformats like on AZHD, Sound is noisy on some Avi (when I take VLC it works, so it cant be a big Bug)
My Zeta Cams not working (not needed for now, but some Guys use it)
Problems on HDMI detect (it works when you go to standby or go to another hdmi device and back)
Multidecrypt IS working! have tested it on CCcam. Of course its not working on Cams which couldnt multidecrypt
And some Babybugs, I dont remember them all, not a Nightmare in it (thats what i remember )

So for me as old AZHD User its not only a Step forward, its some lightyears forward

Also I see some Teams hard working on every Bug in there E2, but I dunno Marusys Team.
Only the future can show, if they have enough knowhow for to make the basic Driver better(for me the Cardreaderdriver are the biggest Error!)
But for the first 5 Weeks out, this STB is a very good one.

And no, I dont need 4 Tuners, I dont change them, I dont need any DVD Device because a have hundreds in my PCs and can use them over VLC(also not needed because I have all my Vids as File ),I also dont need a brand in front named DM Multimedia and I dont pay for DMM.
So this Box is something between DMM800 and DMM8000 and NOT from DMM, that was my Reason to buy it.
I have now a working Box which will be better every Day with new Improvements and Im sure it has a good Future on the Market.
Im NOW happy with it, not in 5,6 or 14 Month like on AZ.

But of course its NOT a DMM, DMM Freaks should better buy a DMM, they read the brand then every Day in front of STB(it seems to be urgent for some People, not for me)
